President Prabowo Accepts Perry Warjiyo’s Resignation; Destry Damayanti Appointed Interim Governor of the Bank of Indonesia

Jakarta - The government has officially accepted Perry Warjiyo’s resignation from his position as Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI). In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, the duties of the BI Governor will be temporarily carried out by Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti.

This was announced by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi during a press statement at Bank Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday, July 27, 2026.

He said that President Prabowo Subianto had received Perry Warjiyo’s letter of resignation.

“The President has accepted Mr. Perry Warjiyo’s resignation. Of course, this is accompanied by our deepest gratitude and highest appreciation for his dedication during his approximately seven years leading Bank Indonesia,” said Prasetyo Hadi.

Next, the government will proceed with issuing a Presidential Decree regarding the honorable dismissal of Perry Warjiyo as Governor of Bank Indonesia.

Prasetyo explained that, based on the Bank Indonesia Law, the position of BI Governor will be automatically filled on an interim basis by the Senior Deputy Governor until the mechanism for filling the permanent position is carried out in accordance with the regulations.

“Moving forward, in accordance with the Bank Indonesia Law, the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia will automatically be held by the Senior Deputy Governor, who will then carry out all duties as acting governor. For the record, the Senior Deputy Governor in question is Ms. Destry Damayanti,” he said.

He emphasized that the government is ensuring the continuity of Bank Indonesia’s operations remains intact. The government will also continue to maintain close coordination with Bank Indonesia in implementing national economic policies, particularly in maintaining monetary and fiscal stability.

“On behalf of the government, we would like to convey to the public that we should continue to carry out our duties in accordance with the authority granted to us by law, whereby BI plays a role in maintaining monetary stability, while the government—in this case, the Ministry of Finance—also fulfills its function of maintaining fiscal stability, all within the framework of close coordination,” concluded Prasetyo Hadi.
