Jokowi and Prabowo Optimistic that the Nusantara Capital City will Become a Modern Environmentally Friendly City

East Kalimantan - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Minister of Defense and President-elect Prabowo Subianto reviewed the progress of the construction of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan. Both are optimistic that the construction will be completed on time, creating an environmentally friendly and modern IKN.

This was conveyed by both of them when starting their activities at the IKN located in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, on Monday (12/8/2024) as quoted from the BPMI Setpres statement.

President Joko Widodo and Minister of Defense and President-elect for 2024-2029, Prabowo Subianto, directly reviewed the progress of the IKN construction. The two walked together to see a number of infrastructures under construction and stopped at the Grande area to get a clearer picture of the development of this large project.

From the Grande area, Jokowi and Prabowo looked at the construction of the State Palace, the national axis area, and the buildings of the coordinating ministries. President Jokowi gave a positive response regarding the progress of the construction, stating that the project is running as expected.

"The air is cool, the air is clean, in accordance with our dreams. We want a capital city that is green, both in terms of energy, electric vehicles, the environment, and air. Everything is good," President Jokowi said in a statement after the review.

Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto also gave a similar response. He said that the atmosphere in IKN was very good and was optimistic that the construction would run smoothly.

"I think we all feel a very good atmosphere, both last night and now. This construction is going well and we must continue to accelerate if possible, of course by involving all our experts and capabilities. I am optimistic, I see this is very good," Prabowo said.

Regarding the sustainability of the IKN construction, Prabowo emphasized that his administration would be committed to continuing this project. Although it will take time, he is confident that the IKN construction will be completed on time and function properly.

"We cannot force it, but I am optimistic that in 4-5 years IKN will function very well. Although I am not an engineer, I see great potential here, and I am sure that in 5-6 years this construction will be completed properly," Prabowo said. (InfoPublik)
