Rembang - Tasikagung Village, Rembang District, Rembang Regency held an Ogoh procession and larung sesaji on Thursday (18/4/2024). The tradition, which is part of the sea alms celebration, was attended by thousands of Tasikagung villagers from 10 RTs.
The series of events began with the procession of offerings from the Tjoe Hwie Kiong Temple area. The offerings, which were placed on two miniature ships, were transported using pick-up vehicles. Furthermore, 30 vehicles were decorated with various forms of ogoh- ogoh and residents wearing various costumes walked behind them.
Deputy Regent of Rembang, Mochamad Hanies Cholil Barro', said the procession of offerings in the Tasikagung Village sea alms is a tradition to express gratitude for the abundant sea products.
"We from the government hope that this event can run smoothly, well, and orderly. We also hope that traditions like this can increase tourist visits, and enrich syawalan at Kartini Beach Recreation Area (TRP)," he hoped.
Meanwhile, Mochammad Riyanto, Tasikagung Village Head, explained that this year's procession celebration has its own uniqueness. The offerings are paraded across the village boundary on Dr. Wahidin Street in accordance with the original tradition. This tradition was previously halted for five years due to various factors, including the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Dr. Wahidin Street is the boundary of Tasikagung Village, which has been passed through for generations during sea alms. According to tradition, offerings are paraded at the village boundaries," he explained.
The procession route is crowded with people who want to see it from a close distance. After the offerings are paraded to the village boundaries, they are then thrown into the middle of the ocean. (Mifta Kominfo Rembang/InfoPublik)
