Jakarta- During his working visit to Indonesia, Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan met with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Tuesday (23/4/2024).
The meeting was in preparation for the Leaders' Retreat between President Joko Widodo and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at Bogor Palace on April 29, 2024.
The two Ministers are optimistic that the economic relations between the two countries will continue to be strong through various potential bilateral cooperation, including green energy, especially solar farms, carbon capture storage, Batam - Bintan - Karimun development, digital connectivity, and data centers.
Furthermore, Airlangga also said that many data centers will be built around the archipelago's capital city to support its development which carries a modern and digitalized concept.
One of the strategic cooperation emphasized is human resource development through skills development, talent exchange in the digital field, and capacity building in the healthcare field.
"The Indonesian Government continues to support strong relations with Singapore both bilaterally and within the ASEAN framework for economic growth and regional stability," Airlangga said.
Airlangga and Foreign Minister Vivian also exchanged views on Indonesia's accession to the OECD and the geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East in an economic context. On the occasion, Foreign Minister Vivian was also optimistic that Indonesia would complete the accession process smoothly.
Also attending the meeting were the Singapore Ambassador to Indonesia and the Deputy for International Economic Cooperation of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. (InfoPublik)
