Jakarta - The Indonesian government sent humanitarian aid for civilians affected by the Gaza conflict in Egypt and Sudan. The aid worth IDR 30 billion was released by President Joko Widodo through Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Base.
Head of the Ministry of Health's Health Crisis Center Sumarjaya said that the humanitarian aid sent on Wednesday (3/4/2024) came from BNPB's Ready-to-Use Fund (DSP). Meanwhile, the procurement was carried out by the Ministry of Health through the Health Crisis Center.
"The total aid distributed reached 28 tons, with details of 12 tons of aid for Sudan and 16 tons for Egypt. The aid will be sent using two Garuda Indonesia aircraft," Sumarjay said.
Meanwhile, the components of the aid are adjusted to the needs requested by the Governments of Egypt and Sudan. Meanwhile, the items and volumes are adjusted to the existing stocks in Indonesia.
Sumarjaya revealed that the aid for Sudan consists of emergency drugs, medical consumables, medical devices for dialysis, drugs for cancer and drugs for chronic diseases such as cholera and hypertension.
As for Egypt, there are two types of humanitarian assistance sent. First, in the form of medical general and medicine such as sharing pumps and drugs for anesthesia. Second, assistance for ambulance supply such as nasal cannula, oxygen masks, infusion sets and blood sugar test kits.
"In total, there are 26 items for Egypt. For Sudan, there are 238 items out of 400 items that we received and verified. Alhamdulillah, all of them can be sent today," Sumarjaya said.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in his remarks said that the Indonesian Government is committed to maintaining world peace and is actively involved in humanitarian missions both due to war and disaster.
To that end, the President expressed his concern over the humanitarian events that occurred in Gaza and internal conflicts in Sudan that caused many victims.
"Therefore, for the umpteenth time, we are again carrying out a humanitarian mission by sending aid to Egypt and Sudan to help our brothers and sisters who need help," President Jokowi said.
He revealed that the assistance worth Rp30 billion was in the form of medicines, medical equipment, and other assistance tailored to the needs and official requests of the Governments of Egypt and Sudan. (InfoPublik.id)
