The East and Sumatra Organization (OTISTA) to Guard Peaceful Election for Indonesia

Jakarta, Indonesia Herald - The dynamics of the 2024 General Elections and Presidential Elections taking place throughout Indonesia are currently a concern of the Central Executive Board of the East and Sumatra Organization (Organisasi Timur dan Sumatra, OTISTA). This mass organization spread across 19 provinces calls on various parties to prioritize the implementation of peaceful and ethical elections.

"Indonesia is free, not for one person, not for one family, not for one group. But all for all. Everyone has the same political rights, everyone can vote not because they are intimidated," said OTISTA Chairman, Taufik Hidayat in East Jakarta (13/2).

He added, in an independent Indonesia, the most important thing is the birth of democracy, elections based on Luber Jurdil and dignity that can bring social welfare to all Indonesian people. We must be able to present the best possible common welfare because the people want to prosper.

On the same occasion, the Secretary General of OTISTA, Nizamul Muluk emphasized that in the 2024 Election, the Indonesian people have been presented with various behaviors of political elites who are ethically deficient and far from the values of noble civilization. The democratic process that has been built since 25 years ago, is now running with deviations that are no longer in accordance with the noble ideals of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Law enforcement is only sharp down and blunt up, critical groups are eliminated one by one using legal products called the ITE Law and the Criminal Code. The practice of civil liberties is castrated under the pretext of stability. The KPK, the Constitutional Court were weakened," he said.

OTISTA founder, Poly Betaubun argued that the momentum of the election on February 14, 2024 is a momentum to make a new political contract and social contract between the people and the candidates for President and Vice President who we believe will be able to bring Indonesia into a country that is just, prosperous, sovereign and dignified.

Present in this statement were a number of founders, including Boy N. Manefa, Boy Noya, Poly Betaubun, Mujib Hermani, Taufik Hidayat, and Nizamul Muluk. Also present were the DPP and OTISTA Provincial Representatives.
