Jakarta, Indonesia Herald - The new vehicle fuel product, Pertamax Green 95, is a concrete step from PT Pertamina, in supporting the achievement of the net zero emission (NZE) target by 2060.
This was conveyed by President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati, through her written statement, Monday (24/7/2023).
"The product is a green fuel product that is environmentally friendly because it uses bioethanol from sugar cane molasses. This is the implementation of one of Pertamina's energy transition pillars in supporting the national energy transition by using a mixture of biofuels," Nicke said.
Nicke emphasized that the development of the Pertamax Green 95 product also successfully involved sugarcane farmers to more than 9,000 people.
Meanwhile, the marketing of the product in the initial stage was carried out at 10 gas stations in Surabaya, East Java and five gas stations in Jakarta.
"Hopefully the presence of Pertamina's new product, namely Pertamax Green 95, is expected to provide a multiplier effect for the Indonesian economy, as well as an opportunity for broad global market penetration for state-owned companies and products," Nicke said.
Meanwhile, Pertamina Vice President (VP) Corporate Communication Fadjar Djoko Santoso hopes that the new product can be accepted by the public to jointly support government programs in achieving the NZE 2060 target.
"We invite the public to take an active role in supporting the energy transition and the Indonesian Government's NZE target by using environmentally friendly fuel, one of which is by using Pertamax Green 95," Fadjar said.
Previously, Pertamina through its Commercial & Trading Subholding, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, had introduced the Pertamax Green 95 product.
The introduction of the new product was carried out for the first time officially to the public in Jakarta and Surabaya.
Pertamina sells the new product with an octane number (RON) of 95 at IDR 13,500 per liter. The price is between Pertamax (RON 92) Rp12,400 per liter and Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) Rp14,000 per liter.
Pertamina said Pertamax Green 95 uses renewable raw materials, namely bioethanol as much as 5 percent. Pertamina through BUMN synergy cooperates with PT Energi Agro Nusantara, which is a subsidiary of PT Perkebunan Nusantara X (Persero) to provide bioethanol raw materials from sugar cane molasses which is processed into fuel grade ethanol.
