Banten, InfoPublik- The Banten Provincial Government (Pemprov) recorded positive performance in the agricultural sector throughout 2025. Banten Governor Andra Soni revealed that rice production in Banten Province experienced a significant increase of 16.84 percent, in line with the increase in harvest area which reached 349,288 hectares.
This was conveyed by Governor Andra Soni after attending the Grand Harvest and Food Self-Sufficiency Announcement with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, online, which was centred on Jalan Tasikardi–Banten Lama, Kramatwatu District, Serang Regency, Wednesday (7/1/2026).
‘The harvest area in Banten Province in 2025 increased by 16.84 per cent, from 299 thousand hectares to 349,288 hectares. In line with this, rice production increased by 16.84 per cent, from 1.5 million tonnes to 1.8 million tonnes,’ said Andra Soni.
Based on production data, Andra Soni explained that the largest contribution to rice production in Banten Province came from Pandeglang Regency, Lebak Regency, and Serang Regency.
According to him, this positive achievement is inseparable from the strategic policies of the Central Government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto. The programme to reduce fertiliser prices, the setting of the Government Purchase Price (HPP) for Dry Harvested Grain (GKP), and improvements to irrigation infrastructure carried out synergistically between the central and regional governments are the main supporting factors.
‘All of this happened thanks to President Prabowo Subianto's programme to reduce fertiliser prices, set the price of dry unhusked paddy, and improve irrigation channels by the Central Government and local governments,’ he said.
As a follow-up measure, Andra Soni conveyed the commitment of the Banten Provincial Government, together with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and the regency/city governments throughout Banten, to maintain and increase food productivity in 2026. One of the main focuses is the protection of agricultural land.
‘The Banten Provincial Government is committed to protecting rice fields through the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) and the Protected Rice Field (LSD) programme,’ said Andra.
On this occasion, the Governor of Banten also handed over stimulus aid to farmers in the form of high-quality seeds of the Inpari 32, Cakrabuana, and Biosalin 1 varieties, with a total weight of one tonne. The assistance was distributed to five farming groups: Kertabakti, Cibesi, Sirandu, Tani Bakti, and Sari Asih. Additionally, 200 food packages were distributed to the local community around the event location. (Mills/MC Prov Banten)
