Jakarta, InfoPublik - Indonesia and the Northern Territory (NT) government of Australia encouraged the strengthening of strategic cooperation and the exploration of new collaborations in the mining sector through a business conference in Darwin, Australia, on Friday (2/5).
According to a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, Saturday (3/5/2025), the business conference jointly organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, the Indonesian Consulate in Darwin and the Northern Territory Government brought together stakeholders in the mining sector from both countries.
According to Indonesian Ambassador to Australia Siswo Pramono, the meeting can help maintain the momentum of cooperation between Indonesia and Australia in the field of mineral resources.
Ambassador Siswo appreciated the role of the Northern Territory Government in introducing opportunities for mining activities in its territory, especially in environmental, logistical and cultural aspects.
The NT authorities have also organized a field visit to the Mt. Todd Gold Project on Thursday (1/5/2025).
He believes that the solid political infrastructure between Indonesia and Australia and the Northern Territory Government “will support joint efforts in responding to evolving geopolitical dynamics” in addition to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
On the same occasion, Director of Mineral Business Development of the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia Cecep Yasin emphasized Indonesia's commitment to encourage collaboration in the critical minerals sector with various parties, including Australia.
Director Cecep also conveyed the current state of cooperation and the direction of future cooperation development at the business conference in Darwin.
Meanwhile, Northern Territory Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Engagement Robyn Cahill emphasized the commitment of her territory's government in strengthening partnerships with RI and encouraging cooperation in the mining sector.
She stated that the business conference and site visit to the Mt. Todd Gold Project were designed to showcase the opportunities and potential for collaboration in the minerals sector.
According to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, the conference concluded a series of critical mineral cooperation business visits in Perth and Darwin from April 29 to May 2025 organized by the Indonesian consulates in Perth and Darwin.
