Jakarta - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or Telkom is preparing the BigBox AI platform, a comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) technology to ensure resilient digital resilience, especially in mitigating cyber threats which are still a high risk in Indonesia's digital space.
Telkom's EVP Digital Business & Technology, Komang Budi Aryasa, explained that BigBox AI will proactively detect cyber threats, accelerate incident response, and predict potential security risks through technologies such as real-time data analysis, machine learning, and natural language processing,
‘The AI we have developed can provide an additional layer of protection for Indonesia's critical assets. We are committed to providing a robust infrastructure, such as the BigBox AI platform that can be utilised by various institutions to detect potential digital threats so that they can act more quickly to prevent them. Not only that, we also ensure that data security is maintained by complying with strict regulations,’ said EVP Digital Business & Technology Telkom in a statement in Jakarta, on Tuesday (25/2/2025).
Komang said that national security in the digital era does not only rely on physical efforts, but also depends on technological sophistication. Moreover, based on a report from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), throughout 2022, Indonesia experienced more than 370 million attacks, putting it at high risk in the face of digital threats.
This makes the role of AI important because it is able to detect cyber threats early, conduct real-time data monitoring, and make quick and precise decisions.
‘AI technology can also be used in various sectors, from border security monitoring to protecting vital state data from cyber attacks,’ he said.
According to Komang, increasingly sophisticated global threats have also encouraged the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) company to strengthen its AI infrastructure, namely BigBox AI, to optimise security services for customers.
The platform is designed to process and analyse data in real-time, including internal and external security systems.
‘One of the advantages of BigBox AI is its capability in anomaly detection, where this system can monitor and detect suspicious activity on the network, then users will be notified so that they can prevent attacks before they occur,’ he said.
In addition to advanced technology, Telkom also focuses on sustainability impacts, by ensuring that every innovation made, including in the development of AI, makes a positive contribution to the environment, social, and good governance.
Among them are using energy-efficient technology that supports efforts to reduce carbon emissions and create a safe digital environment for companies and institutions, and of course for the general public.
‘Telkom also ensures that all AI innovations and products developed follow strict regulations related to data privacy and cybersecurity, supporting transparent and responsible corporate governance,’ concluded Komang Budi Aryasa.
