Commemorating World Dance and Theater Day, Young Artists Collaborate to Create Movement of Sumbawa


Sumbawa Besar - In commemoration of World Dance and Theater Day, several young Sumbawa artists who are members of the Sumbawa Menari community, Viyu Project, Kronik Sumbawa and Sumbawa Cinema Society made the Movement of Sumbawa series 1 event at Studio Kronik Sumbawa (3/5). This art event held theater, dance and film performances.

This art activity was promoted to be one of the ways to instill and preserve the culture in Sumbawa. The activity began with a talk show themed MoS Talk hosted by Iwan Tio which discussed the ideas behind the birth of Movement of Sumbawa series 1 by presenting several speakers from the discipline of theater and dance, including Yusi Ambar Sari, Hana Medita, Desy Wulan and Vicky Cahya Ramadhan.

The first day of Movement of Sumbawa began with a theater and role media workshop at 09.30 WITA by a graduate of the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, Vicky Cahya Ramadhan, which was attended by students and students of Sumbawa University of Technology.

Continuing at 19.30 WITA, Movement of Sumbawa presented various performances of archipelago arts performed by students of SMKN 1 Sumbawa, SMKN 3 Sumbawa and students of Sumbawa University of Technology (UTS).


This spectacular performance was attended by the Regent of Sumbawa, the Regional Secretary and various Sumbawa cultural activists. In his remarks, the Regent of Sumbawa Drs. H. Mahmud Abdullah expressed his appreciation to all artists and all levels involved in the Movement of Sumbawa series 1 activities. According to him, this activity is one way for the archipelago's culture to remain recognized and preserved even though it is accompanied by the presence of foreign cultures that appear at this time.

The Movement of Sumbawa supporters also advised that this activity could survive and be sustainable in rhythm with innovation and creativity in the future.
