Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) Task Force for Combating, Abusing and Trafficking in Drugs (P3GN) has arrested more than 21,000 suspects during the period from September 21, 2023 to March 13, 2024.
"During this period, the Drug Countermeasures Task Force at the Headquarters and Regional Police ranks arrested 21,676 suspects," said Police P3GN Task Force Head Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, in a press conference at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Wednesday (13/3/2024).
Of the 21,676 suspects, he explained, 17,710 suspects are undergoing the investigation process, and 3,966 other suspects are undergoing the rehabilitation process.
He stated that the arrest of thousands of suspects was based on 14,616 police reports.
From the suspects, he said, officers confiscated drug evidence including 2.8 tons of methamphetamine, 1,300,509 items of ecstasy, 1.6 tons of marijuana, 8.64 kg of cocaine, 127.2 kg of gorilla tobacco, 24.8 kg of etamine and 4,875,406 items of hard drugs.
"Based on the results of our disclosure, we can say that the police drug task force has succeeded in saving 20,732,036 lives," he explained.
His party is also committed to fighting and taking firm action against narcotics trafficking and protecting the Indonesian people from the dangers of drugs.
