Jakarta -KAI Commuter again signed a cooperation agreement (MoU) with JRTM Japan. Previously they had also signed a multi-year cooperation contract for the procurement of KRL spare parts for the period, or Long Term Purchase Agreement (LTPA) with a cooperation period of 2024-2027 in order to improve services to the Commuter Line user community.
At the signing of the contract and memorandum of understanding, PT KCI was represented by President Director Asdo Artriviyanto.
He said that the mutually beneficial cooperation will continue in order to support the smooth operation of Railways in the future, especially in the Jabodetabek area.
"In the last five years, PT KCI has continued to cooperate with Japan in the procurement of spare parts, increasing employee competence and other matters to support KRL in Indonesia to operate properly," Asdo said on Wednesday (13/3/2024).
The LTPA cooperation contract signed has a total investment value of cooperation from 2024 to 2027, with a value of approximately Rp734 billion.
"With the total investment value of this LTPA cooperation to ensure the availability of spare parts and maintenance of KRL facilities running well for the operational needs of KAI Commuter services for the next three years," Asdo added.
In addition to the signing of the LTPA cooperation contract related to the procurement of KRL spare parts, KAI Commuter also signed an MoU with JRTM Japan, including:
- Extension of technical life for the JR 205 series with a rejuvenation program;
- Promoting and cooperating in the maintenance and management of spare parts service provision;
- Training and knowledge transfer to support and prepare for the implementation of facility rejuvenation;
- Exchange of experts;
- Spare parts supply and inventory management; and
- Other related fields.
Prior to the signing agenda, KAI Commuter also visited MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) Japan, accompanied by the Indonesian Embassy's Athub to establish good relations and cooperation in the development of KAI Commuter services in the future.
In addition, KAI Commuter also visited the Indonesian Embassy in Japan to report this form of cooperation.
PT KCI as a Commuter Line operator, currently transports and serves an average of more than one million users per day throughout its operational area.
PT KCI will continue to strive to provide the best service by collaborating with many parties so as to create the best urban transportation ecosystem in Indonesia that makes it easier for people to mobilize.
KAI Commuter Chief Corporate Secretary Anne Purba said that her party will continue to open cooperation and collaborate with various parties to improve services to its users.
"Public transportation such as KRL must continue to develop so that the target of more than two million users per day is achieved. KAI Commuter must also be ready to develop services outside Jabodetabek, and encourage the Government to electrify in various parts of Indonesia," Anne concluded.
