Sumbawa - A number of lecturers and cultural activists will organize the Festival Budaya Sumbawa 2023 in Sumbawa Besar. The event, which carries the theme Maintaining Cultural Heritage for a Better Future, is planned to be held on November 11-12, 2023.
The Festival Budaya Sumbawa involves a number of parties ranging from academics, practitioners, MSMEs, and a number of media. The activity was chaired by Indonesian Literature Lecturer, Wiwik Surya Utami, S.S., M.Pd. by collaborating with Rivaldi Ihsan, M.Sn. as the festival curator who is also an ethnomusicologist, lecturer, and art essayist.
"The Festival Budaya Sumbawa aims to preserve and promote the rich culture and traditions of Sumbawa. In addition, it also aims to increase tourism in Sumbawa, promote local tourism potential, and revive the art ecosystem," explained Wiwik Surya Utami (4/10/2023).
Several activities are scheduled in the Festival Budaya Sumbawa 2023, namely the Tana Samawa Cultural Seminar, cultural art performances, cultural exhibitions, and a bazaar for a number of MSMEs in Sumbawa.
This activity is expected to increase public awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage. Rivaldi Ihsan in his presentation explained "Through this activity, it is hoped that the community, especially young people and millennials, will have a new cultural experience by supporting and being directly involved in the 2023 Sumbawa Cultural Festival."
