Police continue to investigate the sale of kidney organs found in Ponorogo - Bekasi


Jakarta - The case of the international kidney trafficking syndicate was not only found in Bekasi, West Java, but also Ponorogo, East Java.

Ponorogo police and immigration authorities have arrested 5 people involved in this syndicate.

The perpetrators were arrested by the immigration authorities while applying for passports for the same country of destination, namely Cambodia.

Head of Immigration at the East Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), Hendro Tri Prasetyo, said they were arrested after potential victims finally admitted to traveling to Cambodia to sell their kidneys.

"(They) will travel to Cambodia, from there we become suspicious, continue to explore, finally one of them admits that they will sell the kidney," he said, Friday (7/14/2023).

Currently they have been handed over to the police, while the price of the kidney offered is IDR 150 million.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya had conducted a series of investigations and case titles related to the international network of kidney buying and selling cases.

However, Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko has not explained the details of how many suspects have been arrested and what the motives of the perpetrators are.

"This is of course already at the investigation stage and there is a determination as a suspect. But please wait until the entire series in completing the facts comprehensively," he said, Thursday (13/7/2023).

Previously, Investigators of the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya raided a house that was allegedly used as a shelter for selling kidney organs.

The house is located at Perum Villa Mutiara Gading, Tarumajaya, Bekasi, West Java.

In the house, the perpetrators accommodate victims who will be taken to Cambodia to undergo kidney removal surgery.
