Followed by 700 Participants, Tour de Merapi is Held Again


Sleman, The Indonesia Herald - Sleman Deputy Regent Danang Maharsa released 700 participants of the 2023 Tour de Merapi event at the Sleman Regional Government Field on Sunday (23/7/2023) morning.  The release was marked with a flag off by the Vice Regent of Sleman.

In this annual event, 350 motorcycles with 700 participants will explore a number of tourist attractions in North Sleman.

Deputy Regent of Sleman, Danang Maharsa said the Tour de Merapi event is an annual event as a forum for motorcycle touring lovers as well as a promotional event for tourism in Sleman Regency.

"This event (Tour de Merapi) is a means for people who like motorcycle touring while enjoying the scenery of tourist villages in Sleman along the way," he said.

As the name implies, Tour de Merapi, explained Danang, will take a route around the Merapi area with surrounding tourist destinations.

He hopes that the re-organization of this activity after the pandemic can provide entertainment for the community, especially can help promote tourist destinations in Sleman.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Sleman Tourism Office (Dispar), Ishadi Zayid, revealed that public enthusiasm for the Tour de Merapi event in 2023 was quite high.

According to him, this can be seen from the increasing number of participants in the event.

"This year (2023), Tour de Merapi targets 200 motorbikes with an estimated 400 participants. But in its implementation, there were 350 motorcycles with an estimated 700 participants," he explained.

Then, Ishadi also explained the route passed by the Tour de Merapi participants in 2023, namely through Embung Mororejo, Tempel, Pulosari, Kaliurang Viewpoint, Terss Merapi Cangkringan, Plataran Monument, Barong Temple and ended at Tebing tourism.

In addition to being treated to tourist views, Tour de Merapi 2023 participants can enjoy Sleman specialties at each post they pass.

At the end of the event, at the Breksi Cliff tour, a door prize drawing was held with the main prizes being 2 units of motorbikes, 6 units of mountain bikes, laptops, cellphones, and a number of other attractive prizes. (Sleman/toeb)
